After releasing my last album, “Afterglow”, which was ambient and chillout focused, I started listening to more upbeat electronic dance music like techno and house to get my creative mind into a different direction. After a while, I decided that my next album would be a dance music-focused collection of tracks. And here it is – DANCE!

The creative work was quite different from my previous productions. First of all, EDM tracks are generally quite short, usually below four minutes. This was difficult for me because I like to let my creativity flow, which often results in tracks that are seven minutes or longer. While I’m still not at the level of Pink Floyd, who easily filled one side of a vinyl record with a single track, I do enjoy longer tracks because they allow sounds and atmospheres to develop more slowly and subtly.
Another new element to some of the tracks on DANCE! is the incredibly talented Irish singer Elise and the lyricist Alek Jenssen. The tracks, “again,” “dancing under the moon,” “dreams,” and “be alive,” were the ones for which I composed music around lyrics and a given melody. In the past, I’ve always composed the chords, beats, and melody first, and then searched for fitting vocals. This was a new process for me, but delightful!

I hope you enjoy DANCE! as much as I enjoyed making it
